
Turkey Sloppy Joes
Can the canned sloppy Joes mix and mix up your own healthy version! It’s a neat twist on an old favorite. These sloppy Joes are a hot mess… in the best way possible.
Ingredients
- 24 ounce(s) lean ground turkey
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- 4 floz water
- 1 cup(s) ketchup
- 2 clove garlic, minced
- 9 teaspoon(s) brown sugar
- 3 tablespoon(s) red wine vinegar
- 3/4 teaspoon(s) ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon(s) freshly ground black pepper
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1/3 cup(s) shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- In a large skillet brown the ground turkey over medium-high heat.
- Add in the garlic, onions, and peppers and cook until softened, about 4-5 minutes.
- Make sure to drain fat out from meat from the pan.
- Add the water, ketchup, brown sugar, and red wine vinegar.
- Stir until combined and add cumin and pepper.
- Turn heat down to low and simmer uncovered for another 15 minutes.
- Place some turkey mixture over the hamburger buns and place cheese over the meat.
- Serve and enjoy!.
