Can the canned sloppy Joes mix and mix up your own healthy version! It’s a neat twist on an old favorite. These sloppy Joes are a hot mess… in the best way possible.

Ingredients
  

  • 24 ounce(s) lean ground turkey
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 4 floz water
  • 1 cup(s) ketchup
  • 2 clove garlic, minced
  • 9 teaspoon(s) brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoon(s) red wine vinegar
  • 3/4 teaspoon(s) ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1/3 cup(s) shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions
 

  • In a large skillet brown the ground turkey over medium-high heat.
  • Add in the garlic, onions, and peppers and cook until softened, about 4-5 minutes.
  • Make sure to drain fat out from meat from the pan.
  • Add the water, ketchup, brown sugar, and red wine vinegar.
  • Stir until combined and add cumin and pepper.
  • Turn heat down to low and simmer uncovered for another 15 minutes.
  • Place some turkey mixture over the hamburger buns and place cheese over the meat.
  • Serve and enjoy!.
