
Marvelous Mashed Turnips
Turnip the heat on this dish. When you are looking for a mashed potato substitute, this veggie smash fits the bill. Serve it with the lean protein of your choice.
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoon(s) almond butter
- 5 turnips, peeled and sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
- 1 dash(es) salt
- 1 dash(es) pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon(s) ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 F.
- Melt the almond butter in a large baking dish by setting it in the oven until melted.
- Put the sliced turnips in the baking dish and toss with the melted butter, the sprinkle the salt, pepper and cinnamon over them.
- Lay a piece of parchment paper directly on top of the turnips, and wrap the baking dish tightly with foil.
- Bake in the oven for 1 hour.
- Remove from the oven, and use a fork or potato masher to mash the turnips coarsely.
- Serve hot.
