Marvelous Mashed Turnips

Turnip the heat on this dish. When you are looking for a mashed potato substitute, this veggie smash fits the bill. Serve it with the lean protein of your choice.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 tablespoon(s) almond butter
  • 5 turnips, peeled and sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
  • 1 dash(es) salt
  • 1 dash(es) pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 325 F.
  • Melt the almond butter in a large baking dish by setting it in the oven until melted.
  • Put the sliced turnips in the baking dish and toss with the melted butter, the sprinkle the salt, pepper and cinnamon over them.
  • Lay a piece of parchment paper directly on top of the turnips, and wrap the baking dish tightly with foil.
  • Bake in the oven for 1 hour.
  • Remove from the oven, and use a fork or potato masher to mash the turnips coarsely.
  • Serve hot.
