
Italian Tomato Sauce
There’s nothing like homemade Italian sauce — a little amore’ goes into every bite!
Ingredients
- 3 cup(s) canned peeled whole tomatoes
- 4 large garlic cloves, lightly crushed
- 6 tablespoon(s) extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
- 1/8 teaspoon(s) freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 onions, finely diced
- 1 teaspoon(s) dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon(s) finely chopped fresh basil
Instructions
- Open cans of tomatoes and drain the liquid out into a bowl.
- Clean out and discard any seeds you may see.
- Mash tomatoes with potato masher or fork.
- Save liquid reserve for later use.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat warm olive oil and cook garlic until golden brown and onions.
- Add mashed tomatoes, salt, and pepper, and stir in basil and oregano.
- Simmer and cook for 15 minutes.
- Discard garlic cloves and serve over warmed cooked pasta of your choice.
