Italian Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cup(s) canned peeled whole tomatoes
  • 4 large garlic cloves, lightly crushed
  • 6 tablespoon(s) extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon(s) freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 onions, finely diced
  • 1 teaspoon(s) dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon(s) finely chopped fresh basil

Instructions
 

  • Open cans of tomatoes and drain the liquid out into a bowl.
  • Clean out and discard any seeds you may see.
  • Mash tomatoes with potato masher or fork.
  • Save liquid reserve for later use.
  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat warm olive oil and cook garlic until golden brown and onions.
  • Add mashed tomatoes, salt, and pepper, and stir in basil and oregano.
  • Simmer and cook for 15 minutes.
  • Discard garlic cloves and serve over warmed cooked pasta of your choice.
